TORONTO. - What can I say about this past week in the WNBA. The last game of the regular season before the All-Star break was on Wednesday the 24th. There were two games including New York at Connecticut and Washington at Minnesota. The Connecticut Sun is tied for first place with the Las Vegas Aces both with 13 wins and 6 loses. Of these four teams, seven players were selected to be on the all-star roster. It was Team Delle Donne against Team Wilson. At first, my money (if I were to bet) was on Team Delle Donne but Team Wilson was in control throughout most of the game.
It was great to see how many people came out to the game to show their support. Celebrities like Kobe Bryant, Sue Bird and her girlfriend Megan Rapinoe as well as many others. It's nice to see that many are seeing the league for what it truly was. The game had a very fun aspect to it especially when it was Chicago Sky's Allie Quigley playing one on one against her wife Courtney Vandersloot (who is also on the Chicago Sky) and trash talking in her face. Everyone was having fun on and off the court.
An aspiring moment of the all-star game was at the end when they were ready to hoist the MVP award. Erica Wheeler was the deserving one taking home that hardware. By halftime, Wheeler put up 18 pts out of her 25 pts and put up seven 3-pointers. She was a huge part of why Team Wilson won the game. Erica Wheeler shows what dedication and hard work can do as she went undrafted.
Now that the weekend is done, it's a race to the playoffs and games will resume Tuesday, July 30th with 3 games in action!
