NYCFC Sets Team Record, Stays In Second Place With Win

New York. - The New York City Football Club continue their unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win over the struggling Chicago Fire on Sunday and in the process, set a new team mark with 5 consecutive clean sheets. Scoring their lone goal would come on a penalty kick from Heber in the 23rd minute after a questionable handball call inside the box on Miguel Angel Navarro that officials rules a penalty. With Striker Taty Castellanos out due to yellow card suspension Heber's second goal of the season would prove to be the difference maker as the team rifled off 15 shots in total with 2 bouncing off the crossbar. Additionally, the Gents in Blue (or in fact Orange on Sunday) came just minutes away from setting a new MLS record by holding the opposing team without a shot on goal for three straight matches, however goal keeper Sean Johnson was forced to make an easy save in the final minutes of additional time to keep NYCFC out of the MLS record books.

NYCFC Ties Team Record For Consecutive Shutouts, Now In 2nd Place

New York. - NYCFC picked up its 5th win in 6th matches and it’s 4th straight MLS shutout as their 2-0 win over DC United pushed them back into 2nd place in the East. On a night where it took all of 6 minutes to secure the game winner via an Alexander Callens header near the left post the Gents In Blue the first half was anything but simple. A pair of shots off the post by DC United plus multiple scoring chances nearly cost NYCFC the lead. However a much needed goal from Golden Boot winner Taty Castellanos goal via penalty kick during added time in the first half took the wind out of the United sails and seemingly deflated the home crowd as well.

NYCFC Finish 4-0-1 On Homestand, End With 2-0 Win Against Columbus

New York. - It took NYCFC all of 9 minutes to score what ended up being the winning goal as NYCFC ends the 5 game homestand with 13 out of a possible 15 points. Talles Magno, who currently leads the East in assists picked up his second goal of the year after taking a pass from Santiago Rodriguez inside the far post for the early 1-0 lead. Much of the first half was a struggle however as Columbus has several opportunities which head coach Ronny Deila attributed to playing too slow but credited goalie Sean Johnson and the central defenders for keeping the Crew off the board.

No Taty, Poor Weather Means Only One Point for NYCFC

New York. - On a cold and rainy night in New York for May, the Gents in Blue struggled offensively from start to finish in what can only be described as an offensive slog in a 0-0 tie. Operating without Golden Boot winner Taty Castellanos due to a “lower body injury”, NYCFC managed only three shots on goal (compared to no less than eight each of their previous 5 MLS matches) as the soggy terrain did little to help put shots on net.

NYCFC Tie High Goal Mark, Crush Real Salt Lake 6-0

New York. - The New York City Football Club took out the frustration of their semi-final loss in the Champions League by throttling Real Salt Lake at home 6-0, thanks to a team record 4 goals scored by Taty Castellanos and a pair by Forward Thiago Andrade. The chilly Easter Sunday did little to slow the team down as much Castellanos needed all of 9 minutes to pick up his awaited first goal of the season and the game winner; a header from the centre of the box, but from there the onslaught was just beginning. New York outshot RSL by a 22-12 margin, including 14-5 on goal and being up by 3 at the end of the first half, the team was cruising. With three more in the second half, the Gents In Blue handed Real Salt Lake a tie for it’s worst loss in team history. Head coach Ronny Deila only had praise for his team. “Very impressed by the guys and how they came out this afternoon after the game on Wednesday. We showed the commitment and what kind of culture is in this group, we played really well from the first to last minute.”

NYCFC Champions League Run Comes to an End

Seattle. - On a night where the New York City Football Club dominated most of not all stats they were unable to overcome the 2 goal deficit left by their first match against the Sounders in the CONCACAF Champions League as a 1-1 tie meant a 4-2 loss on Aggregate. The Gents in Blue faced an uphill climb after losing 3-1 in the first leg of the semifinals in Seattle last week but threw everything they had into making up the deficit, taking less than 30 seconds into the match before Taty Castellanos took a yellow card; seemingly firing up the team, and the crowd. Quoting head coach Ronny Deila: “I think we had the credit to score at least three goals but their goalkeeper was unbelievable today. But if you’re going to lose, this is the way to lose. We gave everything out there, and that’s what we have to keep on doing.”

Time To Panic? NYCFC Now at 3 Losses in First 5

New York. - NYCFC came out of the international break with a disappointing loss on the road against Toronto FC, dropping their first match north of the border by a score of 2-1. On a day where once again they lead in most if not all categories including shots, shots on target and possession the team fell behind 2-0 by the end of the first half. First it was Jesus Jimenez in the 31st minute slipping by three New York before a shot to the right side broke the tie. Twelve minutes later things went from difficult to worse when Thiago Martins inadvertently headed the ball into his own net making it 2-0 to close out the first half. Late in the added time in the second half Heber scored his first goal since 2020 to little celebration.

NYCFC's Junior Club Loses in Shootout in First Ever Match

New York. - For NYCFC's new developmental team, aptly named NYCFC II yesterday's first ever match ended in disappointment as they fell at home to the New England Revolution II team in a shootout 2-2 (4-3). Playing in their new facility at St. John University in Queens on a cold March day, the team had nearly every opportunity to pull out a win. Falling behind 1-0 6 minutes in the team rebounded quickly with a goal by John Denis on 3 minutes later on a nifty pass by new addition Kevin O'Toole. Toward the end of the 1st half NYCFC II took the lead for the first time in the match almost 30 minutes later as defender Chris Gloster took a shot inside the left post.
